The info below shows how you can get involved with us at the Central Ontario Branch of the Western Front Association. The purpose of the Western Front Association is to perpetuate the memory, courage and comradeship of those, of both sides, who served their country in France and Flanders (Belgium) during the Great War. The WFA has about 6,000 members worldwide with branches in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the United States. Memberships are great gifts any time

We are now offering readers and members the opportunity to support the website ($5 supports the website, gives you our web content, but no MAPLELEAF magazine). This fee directly supports the cost of the website.

$25 gets you COBWFA online access and the Excellent MAPLELEAF magazine. Includes Mapping Data for 2 maps free. Data is transferrable to Google Earth.

$46.34 is for International Members and covers the cost of postage for the MAPLELEAF magazine. Includes Mapping Data for 2 maps free. Data is transferrable to Google Earth.. The higher costs relate to postage and we may be able to get that down to the same rate as in Canada.

We think it will streamline your support - no need to send a cheque being a main benefit to you. All transactions are available for audit. Funds raised for the web only access go to improve the quality of our site and as a special service to our readers - you can get mapping data for tracking your favorite WW1 locations (battle sites from the Online War Diaries at The Collections Canada Website. The first two maps are free. They are a real value of about $40 for the research time.

Then there are a few options if you want a researcher to go to the Canadian National Archives or War Museum to hunt information for you - our webmaster Floyd Low, has a BA Honours and an MA in the field of conflict research with emphasis on WW1 Canadians. You can contact him at

To apply for membership in the Central Ontario Branch: Send an email to Glenn Kerr (chairman@cobwfa.ca) and bring your fees to your first meeting,

Before paying the fees, you are also welcome to attend a meeting as a guest.

The fees for associate membership to the Central Ontario Branch of the Western Front Association (COBWFA) are $25 CAD a year for individuals, and $10 for individuals under the age of 18 years.

You do not need to be an expert to join. All are welcome. A simple interest in history and the desire to help maintain the memory of a generation of soldiers who can no longer speak for themselves is all you need. Fees include a subscription to our branch magazine, The Maple Leaf, and help to support research & remembrance activities throughout the year. Donations are gratefully accepted.
